ABC Fruits in Bargur, Tamil Nadu Implements Innovative Solution to Generate Biogas from Fruit Effluent

Bargur, Tamil Nadu: ABC Fruits, a prominent fruit pulp extraction industry, has taken a remarkable step towards environmental sustainability by partnering with Green Connect. This collaboration aims to transform the company’s fruit effluent into valuable biogas, offering a cost-effective and eco-friendly energy source.

Through the assistance of Green Connect, ABC Fruits now utilizes a cutting-edge digester, gas holder, and flaring unit to extract biogas from the generated effluent waste. The process yields an impressive daily output of 1000 cubic meters of biogas, equivalent to about 400 kilograms of LPG.

The produced biogas serves a dual purpose for ABC Fruits. It acts as a heating fuel for their boilers and becomes an efficient alternative for LPG gas stoves in their kitchen. Furthermore, the surplus biogas, if not immediately required, is safely directed to the flaring unit, ensuring proper biogas combustion.

One of the notable advantages of this system is its positive impact on environmental compliance. By implementing the digester, ABC Fruits successfully reduces the Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) level of their effluent from 12,000 mg/liter to 2000 mg/liter, aligning with the stringent norms set by the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB).

This collaboration between ABC Fruits and Green Connect sets a commendable precedent for other industries. By converting fruit effluent into biogas, ABC Fruits not only achieves environmental responsibility but also enhances their reputation as an industry leader committed to innovation and waste management.
