In 2021, Yoga Prana Vidya Ashram took a significant step toward environmental responsibility by partnering with Green Connect to address their kitchen food waste management. Nestled in a scenic, pollution-free, and tranquil environment, the ashram has long been a haven for individuals seeking holistic healing, meditation, and spiritual growth.
The collaboration with Green Connect began with a comprehensive assessment of food waste generation within the ashram. The results were eye-opening, revealing that an astonishing 75 kilograms of food waste were generated daily. Armed with this data, Green Connect proposed the installation of a 75 kg food waste biogas plant.
This innovative system had the potential to produce 10 cubic meters of biogas daily, equivalent to the energy provided by 5 kilograms of LPG. While the financial savings from reduced LPG consumption were significant, Yoga Prana Vidya Ashram’s primary motivation was not monetary gain but rather a commitment to environmental stewardship. Their decision to install a biogas plant was driven by a desire to reduce their carbon footprint and contribute positively to the planet.
The implementation of the biogas plant has been a resounding success, with Yoga Prana Vidya Ashram using the generated biogas efficiently. Their journey has been marked by minimal issues, with the replacement of a biogas booster being the only notable maintenance requirement. This seamless transition to sustainable energy sources exemplifies the ashram’s dedication to both spiritual growth and environmental well-being, making it a shining example of eco-conscious living.
