In 2025, Puvitham Private Limited successfully implemented an institutional-scale biogas plant at the historic Rameshwaram Temple, addressing the temple’s daily organic waste management requirements while generating clean and renewable energy.
The project was designed to process the food waste and cow dung generated within the temple premises and convert it into useful biogas, thereby reducing waste disposal requirements and dependence on conventional LPG. The biogas plant is designed to process approximately 250 kg of cow dung and 250 kg of food waste every day, enabling the temple to manage around 500 kg of organic waste daily.
The project represents an important example of how customized biogas technology can be successfully implemented even in heritage and religious institutions where space and accessibility present significant logistical challenges. By integrating waste management with renewable energy generation, the Rameshwaram Temple biogas plant provides a practical approach to achieving a more sustainable and resource efficient operation.
The successful implementation of this project marks a significant milestone for Puvitham Private Limited and contributes towards the company’s larger “Mission Million” goal by 2030. The project demonstrates Puvitham’s commitment to developing innovative waste-to energy solutions that help institutions manage organic waste effectively, reduce conventional fuel consumption, and create long-term environmental benefits.
